About us

Culturally Safe Care. Community Driven. Person-Centred Support.

Who We Are

Hi, we’re Rondelle and Sharmika proud Wiradjuri and Ngiyampaa women from Cowra and founders of Yawarra Services.

Yawarra was born from our deep passion for building strong communities and creating real connections.

With over 30 years of combined experience in education, we saw a gap in disability services where cultural safety wasn’t just needed, it was essential.

The name Yawarra comes from the Wiradjuri language and means “to care for” — a reflection of everything we stand for.

Our love for community was instilled in us by our grandmother, Vilma Ryan, whose strength and compassion continue to guide our journey.

At Yawarra Services, we honour her legacy by delivering care that is respectful, empowering, and grounded in community.

Respect

We honour every individual’s identity, culture, and choices, ensuring dignity and understanding in everything we do.

Cultural Safety

We are committed to creating environments where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people feel safe, respected, and culturally supported.

Community Connection

We value strong relationships with families, Elders, and communities to create meaningful and lasting impact.

Person-Centred Care

We place each participant at the heart of everything we do, tailoring support to their goals, needs, and aspirations.

Vision
We recognise that many people especially Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples face barriers to accessing the NDIS due to cultural misunderstandings, systemic challenges, and a lack of culturally responsive providers.
Mission
By creating safe, respectful spaces and delivering person-centred care, we aim to improve access, build trust, and support better outcomes for everyone we serve, no matter their background.
